Washer hums but won't agitate or spin? Check the run capacitor first.
This is the 60µF motor run capacitor used in GE and Hotpoint top-load washers. It is made by Globe Capacitors, the maker printed on the original part, and carries GE part number 290D1102P003 on the label — match that number, or the 60µF / 250VAC rating on your old capacitor, before ordering.
The MPP (metallized polypropylene) film design is self-healing, protected (P2), and contains no PCB. The label diagram shows the built-in 20µH inductor fitted to this washer application. Two spade terminals with insulating caps make it a direct plug-in swap for the original.
Features
- Exact-rating replacement: 60.0µF ±5%, 250VAC, 50/60Hz
- Globe Capacitors GCS-RS series, self-healing MPP film
- Built-in 20µH inductor per label diagram
- 10000 AFC, P2 protected, no PCB
- cRUus (C22.2 No. 190) and CE marks printed on label
- Round aluminum can, 2 quick-connect spade terminals
- Batch 20250517 — fresh stock, not a salvaged pull
Condition note: New. The aluminum cans show light scuffs and scratches from shelf / bulk handling, and one unit photographed has a small dark mark near the base. See photos — the unit you receive will be from the same batch and condition.
Fitment note: Cross-references WH12X24103, WH12X27614, WH12X29017, WH13X28838 and prior revision 290D1102P002. Commonly fitted to GE GTW220, GTW335, GTW460, GTW465, GTW490, GTW500, GTW680, GTW685 and GTW750 series and Hotpoint HTW200 series top-load washers. Always confirm by part number and rating on your original capacitor.

Frequently asked questions
What does a washer run capacitor do?
It helps the drive motor start and keep running through agitate and spin. A failed capacitor is a common cause of a washer that hums, won't agitate, or won't spin.
How do I know this is the right one?
Match part number 290D1102P003 (or a cross number above) and confirm 60µF / 250VAC on your old capacitor's label.
Is this new or used?
New, batch 20250517. Not a used pull. Light can scuffs from handling are shown in the photos.
Is installation difficult?
It is a 2-terminal plug-in part, but capacitors can hold a charge. Unplug the washer and discharge the old capacitor safely, or have a qualified technician fit it.
